Why is my pressure washer surging?
Article If the nozzle has even a little bit of dirt in the tip, it may cause enough obstruction for the pressure washer to pulsate. If your pressure washer came with a nozzle cleaner, use it to clean the tip. If not, you can use a pin or paper clip to clear the nozzle tip of debris that may have become lodged in it.

Suggested Viewing: go to http://www.karcherresidential.com/en/video_library.php and click on the "Troubleshooting: Inconsistent Pressure" video. Although the pressure washer featured in the view is gas powered, most of the steps apply to electric pressure washers as well.

As noted in the video, air within the hose or the pump may also cause pulsating. Purge the air by pulling the trigger and allowing water to flow through the pressure washer (until there is no more air) BEFORE starting the pressure washer.
