Preparing a Surface for Painting

Clean the Surface:

Follow the general cleaning procedures for the surface as detailed in the other areas of this online cleaning guide.

Remove Loose or Flaking Paint:

Use the Dirtblaster™ Rotary Nozzle to strip away any loose or flaking paint. [Warning! Be sure to keep the nozzle at a safe distance. Avoid lingering in one spot to prevent the Dirtblaster’s powerful jet from damaging wood and other surfaces.] Allow the area to dry completely.

Remove Rust and Stubborn Paint:

Use Kärcher’s Wet Sandblasting Kit with Abrasive Control or Wet Sandblasting Kit without Abrasive Control to blast away stubborn paint, rust and corrosion from window frames, garden tools and equipment, storm doors and other metal surfaces. Keep the nozzle close enough for effective removal and then dry the surface immediately to reduce oxidation. Prime and paint as desired.

For optimum results, always test a small inconspicuous area before starting a cleaning project with your pressure washer.
