Preparing a Surface for Painting

Apply Detergent:

Using the low-pressure setting on the Vario Spray Wand (2), apply Kärcher’s environmentally friendly Exterior House Cleaner detergent to a 6’ to 8’ wide section working from the bottom up. Allow the detergent to soak for 3-5 minutes, rewetting as necessary to keep the detergent from drying on the surface. The detergent will break down any oils or surface film for more effective cleaning.

Power Clean:

Use the Vario Spray Wand’s high-pressure setting (1) to rinse the detergent and dirt from the surface. For stone, brick, masonry or stubborn mildew and dirt, use Kärcher’s Dirtblaster™ Rotary Spray Wand (3). Clean and rinse from the top down in a side-to-side motion. Use Kärcher’s 33’ Extension Hose to clean longer fences and walls without having to constantly move the pressure washer.

Tip:

With Kärcher’s Wet Sandblasting Kit you can quickly remove rust and paint from fences, gates and trellises!
