Carbon dioxide emission reduced by 14 metric tons per annum.
Our new building in Winnenden, completed in 2000, is equipped with a solar power plant for environment-friendly production of electricity.
The details:
Total solar module surface area: approx. 260 sq.m.
Max. output: 30 kWp (kilowatt peak)
Estimated annual output: approx. 28,000 kWh (kilowatt hours) which is equivalent to the consumption of 6 single-family homes
Value of the equipment: approx. € 230,000
CO2 emission reduced by about 14,000 kg/year
The photovoltaic plant is operated by S.A.G. Solarstrom AG, Freiburg.
Kärcher provides the roof surface free of charge for 20 years and bears part of the cost of the equipment.
Further Kärcher contributions to climate protection:
- Solar cells on roof of administrative building for heating water
- Planting grass and shrubs on roof of car wash and new building
- Heat recovery in ventilation system (CO2 emissions reduced by about 67 metric tons p.a.)
- Natural gas heating plant at Winnenden headquarters (CO2 emissions reduced by about
20% compared to heating oil).
- Obersontheim paintshop uses powder coating processes
no solvent emissions.
- Building insulation improved and insulated windows installed in several Kärcher factories
- Emission control systems in several Kärcher machines, e.g. sweepers
- Kärcher detergents containing no solvents (with very few exceptions)
